THE FLEMING OVERSEAS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC


The Company today announced that it has changed its benchmark index with
immediate effect to the MSCI World Index to broaden its investment universe.
The Company is amending its policy of limiting UK equities to no more than 5%
of assets in order to accommodate this change. At present, approximately 10%
of the MSCI World Index is in UK equities.
