JPMORGAN GLOBAL EMERGING MARKETS INCOME TRUST PLC

APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR

The Board of JPMorgan Global Emerging Markets Income Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Sarah Fromson as a non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1st June 2011.

Mrs Fromson is Head of Investment Risk at Wellcome Trust. She was previously at RBS Asset Management (formerly Coutts) where she held a number of senior positions, including Chief Investment Risk Officer, Co-Head of Investments and Head of the Long-Only Investment team.

She does not currently hold any of the Company's ordinary shares.

No further information is to be disclosed in respect of paragraphs 9.6.13 (2) - (6) of the Financial Services Authority's Listing Rules for Mrs Fromson.
