        JPMORGAN FLEMING JAPANESE SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC


Further to the announcement made on 20th March 2003 regarding the appointment of
Mr Alan Clifton as a Director of JPMorgan Fleming Japanese Smaller Companies
Investment Trust plc.


In accordance with paragraph 16.4 of the FSA Listing Rules, Mr Clifton is
currently a Director of the following public quoted companies:-

Schroder UK Growth Fund plc
Gartmore Balanced Assets Trust plc
International Biotechnology Trust plc

Within the previous five years Mr Clifton has been a Director of The Global
