New Director



The Board of JPMorgan Fleming Japanese Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc
are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Chris Russell as non-executive
Director with effect from 1st January 2006.



Mr Russell has extensive knowledge of the investment trust industry and Japanese
equity markets. He has previously held the position of Head of Overseas Business
at Gartmore Investment Management and prior to that was a Director of JF Asset
Management in Hong Kong.



There are no other details requiring disclosure under paragraph 9.6.13 of the
FSA Listing Rules.
