New Director

The Board of JPMorgan Fleming Japanese Investment Trust plc is pleased to
announce the appointment of Andrew Fleming as a non-executive Director with
immediate effect.

Mr. Fleming, who managed an investment management office in Tokyo from 1987 to
1993, is Global Chief Investment Officer for ABN Amro Investment Management.

There are no further details requiring disclosure under paragraph 16.4 of the
FSA listing Rules.
