REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION

On the 28th July 2008 JPMorgan Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc purchased 45,000 ordinary shares for cancellation at 384.23 pence per share.

Following the transaction the remaining shares in issue total 20,050,322.
