UPDATE RE BLYVOOR JV - APPOINTMENT OF JV MANAGER
Katoro Gold plc (AIM: KAT), the gold and nickel exploration and development focused company, is pleased to announce the JV Partners are making good progress in respect of advancing the Project and are pleased to announce the appointment of Graham Briggs as the manager of the JV.
As announced on 30 January 2020, Katoro has entered into an Agreement with Blyvoor and Target to form the JV to exploit potentially viable deposits of gold and any other minerals from six gold tailings dams owned by Blyvoor in South Africa. HIGHLIGHTS
· The JV Partners have now formed a JV management committee to provide managerial oversight for the Project and both Blyvoor and Katoro have appointed two representatives;
· The JV management committee have appointed Graham Briggs, former CEO of Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited, as Manager of the JV;
· Mr Briggs will be responsible for control, management and supervision of all technical, operational and other activities relating to the Project; and
· The JV management committee has already met and is seeking to advance the Project.
Biography JV Manager - Graham Briggs
Graham Briggs, has a long and distinguished career in the South African mining industry and brings extensive operational experience to the Project. Having commenced his career in the early 1970s as a geologist, he initially worked for several gold mining companies in the Gencor Group.
He subsequently joined Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited in 1995 as a New Business Manager, before being appointed as its Chief Executive Officer in 2008, serving in the role until his retirement in 2015.
As a result, Graham has extensive operational and managerial experience from his involvement with several South African gold mines and extensive international experience, working as CEO of Harmony operations in Canada, Australia and Papua New Guinea.
Graham was also vice president of the Chamber of Mines of South Africa for two years until 2016.
Louis Coetzee, Executive Chairman of Katoro, said: "The formation of the JV management committee is an important step in the development of the Project and we are delighted to have achieved this so quickly.
