KAZAKHGOLD GROUP LIMITED

Temporary suspension of trading in securities

Whilst remaining in detailed discussions with OJSC Polyus Gold regarding a possible partial offer, KazakhGold has not been able to publish its report and accounts for the year ended 31 December 2008 today as required by Disclosure and Transparency Rules (DTR) 4.1.3. In these circumstances, the Company has requested the FSA to suspend trading of the Company's shares with effect from 1 May 2009.

The Company will make a further statement in due course.
