KELLER SUBSIDIARY WINS WESTMINSTER COUNCIL
PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CONTRACT
Makers Haywards, a newly-formed joint-venture between Makers UK Ltd and
Erinaceous Group Plc, will supply maintenance services to 7500 homes in the
heart of London. These homes are owned by Westminster City Council and managed
by WMSHaywards, a subsidiary of Erinaceous Group plc.
Initial work is expected to be worth approx. £3 million in the first year. The
maintenance services contracts are part of a national Decent Homes programme
worth £19 billion to repair and maintain residential council properties in the
United Kingdom.
In Greater London alone over £6 billion needs to be spent over the next ten
years on refurbishment related repairs and improvements. Makers Haywards intends
to increase its share of that spend in future years. In addition, Makers is
forging strategic alliances elsewhere in the UK to build its presence in the
provision of support services to other local authorities.
Andy Hammond, Managing Director of Makers UK Limited, said:
'I am delighted to announce the formation of Makers Haywards which we have
launched in close consultation with the Housing Department at Westminster City
Council, pioneers of 'Partnering' in the public sector. We have been selected as
partners on this project because of our excellent track record working with
Westminster City Council and our commitment to service delivery.'
Tom Dobson, Keller Chief Executive, said:
'This is further evidence that we intend to broaden the range of services we
offer our markets. Within Europe, the Westminster contract is a prime example of
our intention to focus on specialist services through niche businesses operating
in markets with strong growth prospects.'
