Kenetics wins Award for On-Board Bus Equipment

Kenetics Group Limited ('Kenetics' or 'the Company' or 'the Group'), the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) company focused on Security and RFID systems and products, announces today that it has been awarded a contract to supply On-Board Bus Equipment (OBE) with Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) by Singapore's Land Transport Authority. 

This contract covers the design, manufacture, supply, deliver, install, test and commission of a new OBE and new WLAN. The scope covers also trials on buses of the new equipment, which shall include features and components in a fare collection system. The total value of this contract amounts to about £1.22 million. The contract is expected to complete with 15 months from the award of the tender. Upon successful development and trials, roll-out of the new equipment is expected for the public buses in Singapore

Since early 2007, Kenetics has been investing in the development of equipment and RFID readers used in Automated Fare Collection Systems for Public Mass Transport such as bus and rail systems. As earlier announced on 18 September 2008, this development of products has led to Kenetics winning a contract for the supply of Contactless Smart Card (CSC) Readers for the Singapore Land Transport Authority. 

The implementation of both CSC Readers and OBE is expected to enhance Kenetics capabilities and growth in the Automated Fare Collection Systems market.
