Kier Group plc announces that on 10 January 2005 Mr Richard William Simkin was
allotted 13,764 Ordinary Shares in the Company, following the exercise on that
day of options over 11,764 shares at 170p per share and 2,000 shares at 189.5p
per share under the Kier Group plc Performance Related Option Scheme.

Following this transaction Mr Simkin's total beneficial interest in Kier Group
plc is 281,909 shares, representing 0.79% of the current issued capital of
35,618,492 ordinary shares.
