The Board of Kier Group plc announces that Michael Paul Sheffield, deputy
managing director of Kier Regional, will be appointed as an executive director
of Kier Group plc with effect from 1 October 2005.



Paul, aged 44, joined the Group as a graduate engineer 22 years ago.  He has
worked in the UK and overseas and was appointed managing director of Kier
Construction in 2001, chairman of Kier Construction in 2003 and joined the Kier
Regional board in 2004.



Peter Warry, Chairman, said:



"I am looking forward to working with Paul and am confident that he will
contribute significantly to the Board and to the future direction of the Group."





No information in relation to Mr Sheffield is required to be disclosed pursuant
to Listing Rule 9.6.13R.



As at 14 September 2005, Mr Sheffield was beneficially interested in 21,069
Ordinary Shares in the Company, representing 0.059% of the Company's issued
ordinary share capital and has 590 options under a Sharesave scheme having an
exercise price of £6.25 and an exercise period of 1 January 2007 to 1 July 2007.
