DIRECTORATE CHANGE

The board of directors of Kier Group plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Mellor as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 December 2011.

Amanda Mellor is currently the Group Secretary and Head of Corporate Governance of Marks and Spencer Group plc ("Marks and Spencer"), having previously been Head of Investor Relations at Marks and Spencer and Director of Corporate Relations at Arcadia Group plc.

Amanda will be a member of the Company's Audit, Remuneration and Nomination Committees and is considered by the board of directors of the Company to be independent.

Phil White, Chairman of the Company, said:

"I am delighted that Amanda is joining us as a member of the Board, as I believe that her wide range of skills and experience will complement those of our other directors. I very much look forward to working with Amanda."

No information in relation to Amanda Mellor is required to be disclosed pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.13R.

As at the date of this announcement, Amanda Mellor has no beneficial interest in the share capital of the Company.
