GROUP FINANCE DIRECTOR SUCCESSION

Kier Group plc ("Kier") today announces that Deena Mattar has informed the Board that she intends to leave the Group with effect from the close of Kier's Annual General Meeting in November 2010 in order to pursue other opportunities.  Deena joined the Group in 1998 and has been Group Finance Director since 2001.  Haydn Mursell, who is currently Deputy Group Finance Director of Balfour Beatty plc, will join Kier as Group Finance Director - Designate on 18 August 2010 and is expected to take over from Deena as Group Finance Director upon her departure.

Haydn Mursell (39) is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, having trained and qualified at KPMG in London.   Haydn has been Deputy Group Finance Director of Balfour Beatty since October 2008.  From 2001 until 2008, he held a number of roles at Bovis Lend Lease, the last of which was as the Chief Financial Officer of the UK business.
