The Board of Kier Group plc announces that Matthew Barton, Corporate Counsel,
will be appointed Company Secretary to Kier Group plc from 1 July 2005; taking
over the role from Deena Mattar, who will remain Group Finance Director.

Matthew, aged 31, joined Kier Group from lawyers Cleary Gottlieb, Steen and
Hamilton in October 2004 as Corporate Counsel for the Group, a position which he
will retain.

John Dodds, Group Chief Executive, said:

"I congratulate Matthew on his new appointment as Company Secretary and look
forward to working with him in his additional role".
