Kier awarded design services contract worth up to £50m by Highways England

Kier Group plc ("Kier"), the leading property, residential, construction and services group, confirms that it has been selected by Highways England as the preferred supplier for design services in the Highways England Area 7 covering the East Midlands. The new contract, which is additional to Kier's existing Highways England contracts, is worth up to £50m over a five-year period, commencing 1 July 2016.

Area 7 comprises 79km of motorway and 428km of trunk roads in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland, including stretches of the M1, M6 and A1. The contract work delivered by Kier Highways includes preparing technical designs and undertaking supporting work for capital projects from an initial scheme feasibility phase through to the as-build phase. Kier's expertise in structures, pavements, drainage, lighting, technology and landscaping, are amongst those that will be called upon in order to successfully deliver the contract.

The award of this contract demonstrates Kier's ability to tailor its services offering to Highways England's evolving asset led delivery model and reflects the breadth of the Group's capabilities following the Mouchel acquisition.

Kier believes that this win represents an attractive opportunity for the Group. As a committed supplier to Highways England, Kier will be in a strong position to bid for further contracts beyond the four Areas (1, 3, 9 and 13) in which it currently operates.
