KIER IN LINE-UP TO DELIVER £600M MERSEY BRIDGE

Merseylink, a consortium including Kier as part of a three-way construction joint venture, has been announced preferred bidder for the Mersey Gateway scheme.

The construction phase of the project is valued in the region of £600m and financial close is expected later this year.

The project includes construction of a new six-lane toll bridge over the Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes spanning 2.13km including a 1km cable-stayed section. Also included is a 6km highways upgrade, eight interchanges and twelve new bridges.

The Merseylink consortium's equity partners are Macquarie Capital Group Limited, Bilfinger Project Investments Europe Limited and FCC Construcción. The construction joint venture comprises Kier Infrastructure and Overseas, Samsung C&T and FCC Construcción.
