KIER JV WINS £200m+ CROSSRAIL CONTRACT
A three-way joint venture comprising Kier, BAM and Ferrovial has been awarded a £200m+ contract on the Crossrail scheme for major works at Farringdon Station.
Works include the excavation, construction, mechanical, electrical and building fit-out of the western and eastern ticket halls, the enlargement, construction, mechanical, electrical and building fit-out of the twin platform tunnels and associated cross passages.
Works are due to start on 16 January 2012 with completion scheduled for 2018 although civils, tunnelling and fit-out works will be substantially complete by mid 2016.
Farringdon Station is key to the delivery of the Crossrail programme, being where the western and eastern running tunnel contracts terminate and where four tunnel boring machines are retrieved.
Kier chief executive Paul Sheffield commented: "We are delighted to be part of this major scheme and look forward to demonstrating how the combined resources and experience of the three partners will be making a significant contribution towards the successful delivery of this world class project."
