KIER TO TAKE OVER BARNSLEY CONTRACT
Kier has been awarded a contract by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to repair and maintain 9,000 houses in the borough under a contract with a potential value of £110m. The contract was won in competitive tender when the existing contract with Inspace came up for renewal.
The contract comprises housing repairs, planned maintenance improvement and environmental work in Wombwell, Hoyland and the Dearne. The five year contract, which is extendable to ten, will see the contract staff transfer from Inspace to Kier which will assume operations from 1 April 2010.
Kier Group chief executive John Dodds commented: "We are delighted to have been chosen to take this contract forward. We will be looking to ensure a seamless transition for our new employees and to build further on the strong customer focused service they have been providing."
