License Granted in U.S.

Konami Co Ltd 28 January 2000 KONAMI GETS THE LICENSE FOR GAMING MACHINE MANUFACTURING IN NEVADA, U.S. THE FIRST PUBLIC JAPANESE COMPANY TO ENTER INTO LAS VEGAS MARKET. Today (Jan. 27th, U.S. local time) KONAMI Co. Ltd. (CEO Kagemasa Kozuki, headquarters: Minato-ku Tokyo, Japan) has been granted the license for gaming machine manufacturing from Nevada Gaming Commission as the first public Japanese company. Also at the same time its 100% owned subsidiary Konami Gaming, Inc. (headquarters: Nevada U.S., established Feb. 97) obtains the license for manufacturing and distribution of gaming machine. Now Konami is going to be the first public Japanese company to enter the world's largest U.S. gaming industry. Konami has expanded its business to be the leader of digital entertainment industry with the production of consumer software, arcade amusement machine, IP related product and others. The entry into the gaming machine industry will set forward the company to the next developing stage. The company plans to bring this gaming machine business up to the one of the main pillars of its operation with global deployment. Currently, there are about 80 countries with authorised casinos and it is assumed that the annual sales of gaming machines is around 200 billion yen. Two major markets, U.S. and Australia are said to hold about 50 percent and 20 percent share respectively. The company plans to have the annual sales of 15 billion yen in three years time and apply for the license also in other jurisdictions such as California, Mississippi and New Jersey to further expand its business.
