KONAMI CORPORATION Lists on the New York Stock Exchange
Ticker Symbol: KNM
September 30, 2002 - KONAMI CORPORATION (KONAMI), a global entertainment leader, is pleased to announce that it
will list on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) today. Shares of KONAMI will trade in the form of American Depositary
Shares (ADSs) with one ADS equal to one ordinary share. The ADSs will trade under the ticker symbol 'KNM'. JPMorgan
Chase Bank will act as the Depositary Bank.
KONAMI chose to list on the NYSE to further four strategic aims:
Expand U.S. Operations
KONAMI has been developing operations in the United States for some of its businesses, including its video game
software business, its playing card game business and its gaming business, which is carried out in several states
including Nevada. With the NYSE listing, KONAMI hopes to enhance its profile and expand its U.S. operations further.
Provide Added Flexibility to Management
In order to support the further expansion of its operations in the United States, KONAMI's management will need to be
able to take advantage of corporate opportunities quickly. The listing of its ADSs provides KONAMI with the ability to
form strategic alliances and access other important means of financing.
Strengthen KONAMI's Corporate Governance
By listing on the NYSE, KONAMI is required to follow global accounting standards accepted in the world market, and to
apply to the highest standards in corporate governance. Listing on the NYSE will not only reinforce financial
accounting controls of KONAMI and its subsidiaries, but will also strengthen disclosure procedures, both of which
should contribute to increased shareholder confidence around the world.
Increase U.S. Shareholder Base
KONAMI expects that the U.S. listing will increase its shareholder base and enhance liquidity by providing greater
access and opportunity to U.S. institutional and retail investors to invest in a NYSE listed security.
KONAMI listed on the Singapore Exchange in 1997 and on the London Stock Exchange in 1999. By listing on the NYSE
today, KONAMI has taken an important step to raise its profile in the world's largest equity market.
