                            APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR


Lancashire Holdings Limited ('Lancashire') announces the appointment of John
Bishop as an additional non-executive director of Lancashire.  The appointment
was made on 19 March 2008.


John Henry Bishop, who is 63, is an actuary with broad experience in the
insurance sector.  He has served on the boards of a number of insurance
companies both in an executive capacity and as a non-executive director.  He is
currently a non-executive director of Berkshire Hathaway International,
Motability Finance Ltd, Houston Capital Corporation Underwriting Agency and CET
Group and in the last 5 years has been a non-executive director of Domestic &
General Insurance Company.   He has previously worked at the Euler Group on its
managing board and as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Eagle Star
Insurance Company Ltd where he was responsible for the worldwide general
insurance operations and, before that, as Managing Director of Sun Alliance UK
Insurance Company.


Commenting on the appointment, Martin Thomas, Lancashire's Chairman, said 'We
