Changes to the LHL Board - Non-Executive Director appointment and other planned changes

Lancashire Holdings Limited ("Lancashire" or the "Company") announces the appointment of Simon Fraser as a Non-Executive Director.  The appointment was made on 5 November 2013.

Simon Fraser joined Merrill Lynch in 1997 (subsequently Bank of America Merrill Lynch) where, between 2004 and 2011, he was managing Director and co-head of corporate broking. Simon advised many UK companies on stock market and London Stock Exchange issues and led on various IPOs, rights issues, placings, demergers and M&A transactions. He was part of the team which advised Lancashire as its corporate broker on its AIM and main market listings in 2005 and 2009.  He also serves as a Non-Executive Director of Derwent London plc.

The Company has also announced that, as part of the orderly rotation of the Lancashire Board, both Ralf Oelssner and John Bishop will retire from the Lancashire Board following the 2014 AGM.  Ralf Oelssner joined the Board in 2005 and John Bishop in 2008.

Martin Thomas, Lancashire's Chairman, said;

"We are delighted to welcome Simon to Lancashire as a Non-Executive Director.  Given his previous association with the Company, the Board has given careful thought to his appointment and concluded that he brings valuable experience and independence of thought to the Board.

Both Ralf and John are longstanding members of the Lancashire Board. Their experience and particular knowledge of the insurance sector have been of great benefit to the Company. I would like to thank them both for their diligence and insight over many years, and in particular their wisdom and services as Senior Independent Director and Audit Committee Chair respectively.  We will continue to have the benefit of their service until the 2014 AGM."
