Lancashire Holdings Limited Announces Recruitment of Operations Director

HAMILTON, Bermuda (8th May 2006) - Lancashire Holdings Limited (the 'Company')
today announces that Colin Alexander will be joining Lancashire in Bermuda as
Operations Director. Colin will report to Neil McConachie, the Lancashire Group
Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer.  Colin joins on 1st June
2006.

Colin is joining the Lancashire Group from International Advisory Services
Limited in Bermuda, where he is Senior Vice President.

Neil McConachie said 'We will be very pleased to welcome Colin as a full-time
employee. Colin is no stranger to the Lancashire Group, having served as a
non-executive Director of the Company since the Group's formation in 2005.
Colin has provided services to insurance businesses in Bermuda over many years
and is bringing a wealth of insurance management experience with him to the
Group'.

Colin joined the IAS Park Group in 1989, prior to which he spent three years
with International Risk Management Limited where he managed a number of captive
subsidiaries of US Fortune 500 companies.  Before moving to Bermuda in 1986,
Colin spent five years with chartered accountants, Touche Ross & Company in
Manchester, England where he qualified as a chartered accountant in 1981.  Colin
also holds a B.A. Honours degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the
University of Sheffield.

Colin will step down as a Director of the Company concurrent with his employment
at the beginning of June. A review of Board composition will be undertaken
following Colin's departure from the Board.
