                    LAND SECURITIES COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF
                     WHITECLIFF PROPERTIES FROM BLUE CIRCLE


Land Securities PLC ('Land Securities') announces that it has today completed
the £60 million acquisition of Whitecliff Properties, together with 1013 acres
of its Kent Thames-side and Cambridge portfolios, from Blue Circle Industries
PLC ('Blue Circle').


The acquisition was originally announced to shareholders on 7 February 2001.
