APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


Land Securities announces that Peter Freeman has been appointed to the Board
as a non-executive Director with effect from 1 January 2002.



Peter (45) is a non-executive Director of the Argent Group PLC and Chairman of
Freeman Publishing plc.  He is also member of the General Council of the BPF.
Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1981.  He co-founded the Argent Group the
same year and later founded Freeman Publishing in 1999.



Commenting on the appointment, Land Securities' Group Chief Executive, Ian
Henderson, said, 'Peter brings with him extensive knowledge of the property
industry coupled with an entrepreneurial flair.  His experience complements
the skills of the team on the Board and we are very pleased that he will be
joining us.'



Peter Freeman added 'This is a very interesting opportunity to become involved
in the strategic issues facing the UK's only quoted integrated property and
property services group in contrast to my role at Argent where I enjoy
focusing on specific development projects.'
