APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Land Securities PLC announce that Giles Henderson CBE has been appointed to
the Board as a non-executive Director with effect from 2nd October, 2000.

Giles, (58), has been a partner in Slaughter and May since 1975 and became
Senior Partner in 1993.  He was a member of the Hampel Committee on Corporate
Governance and is currently a member of the Financial Reporting Council.  He
is also the Chairman of the Law Committee of the UK/China Forum.

Commenting on the appointment, Land Securities' Chairman, Peter Birch, said
'Giles' top level legal experience coupled with his knowledge of the City will
make a valuable contribution to the Board'
