                   STATEMENT TO THE MARKET - 19 JUNE 2001

The Board of the Law Debenture Corporation p.l.c. announces that the company's
Managing Director, Christopher Duffett has today confirmed his intention to
retire with effect from April 2002. The Managing Director is an executive
director. The Board has initiated a recruitment process to identify a suitable
successor for Mr Duffett who will remain fully engaged up until his retirement.
The Board is grateful for the length of notice it has received, so that
effective succession planning can be implemented.
