                             FTSE Re-classification


Leeds Group plc advise that, with effect from 24 February 2003, the Company's
shares under the FTSE Actuaries' industry classification will be listed under 
'Speciality and other Financial' - sub-category 'other financial'.


This re-classification reflects the change in focus of the Group's business
following its declared strategy of withdrawing from textile manufacturing in
order to focus on its successful UK finance leasing operation which, in the year
ended September 2002 produced pre-tax profits exceeding £1m - 15% up on 2001.
