APPOINTMENT OF A NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Legal & General Group Plc ("Group") is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Prettejohn as an independent Non-Executive Director of the Group with effect from 2 November 2010.

Nick Prettejohn was previously the Chief Executive Officer, Prudential UK & Europe, Executive Director, Prudential Plc from 2006-2009, and Chief Executive of Lloyd's of London from 1999-2005. Nick will join the Remuneration Committee and Risk Committee.

frances Heaton, a Non-Executive Director of the Group since July 2001, will retire with effect from 2 November 2010.

Legal & General Group Plc confirms that there is no information to disclose relating to Mr Prettejohn under rules 9.6.13 (2) to (6) of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
