Legal & General completes acquisition of Alliance & Leicester life assurance
subsidiary.



Following the receipt of approval from the Financial Services Authority, Legal &
General Group Plc and Alliance & Leicester Plc announce the completion today of
the purchase by Legal & General Assurance Society Ltd of Alliance & Leicester
Life Assurance Company Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Alliance & Leicester
Plc. Details of the transaction were announced on 25 July 2002.
