Legal & General Group Plc (the Company')


On 11 April 2007, A. W. Palmer exercised options over 700,000 Ordinary shares of
2.5p each at a price of 78p per share.  The options were granted on 10 April
2003 under the Legal & General Group ESOS Share Option Scheme.  Subsequently, A.
W. Palmer sold 490,000 Ordinary shares of 2.5p each in the Company at a price of
162.6p per share. The proceeds of the exercise were used to purchase the balance
of 210,000 Ordinary shares of 2.5p each.


Following this exercise and sale A. W. Palmer's total beneficial interest in the
Company, including those of connected persons, was 1,777,911 shares.
