Legal & General Group Plc (the 'Company')

The Company has today been informed that:-


        1.     Mr. R. J. Margetts, Chairman of the Company, has today purchased
        60,000 ordinary shares of 2.5p each in the Company at a price of 73.75p
        per share. Following this transaction, his beneficial shareholding in
        the Company, including those of his wife, stands at 201,505.

        2.     Sir David Walker, a non-executive director of the Company, has
        today purchased 50,000 ordinary shares of 2.5p each in the Company at a
        price of 74.5p per share to be held in the name of Morgan Stanley
        Nominees. Following this transaction, Sir David's beneficial
        shareholding in the Company stands at 59,465.
