Legal & General Group Plc (the 'Company')

The Company has been informed that Mrs K. Staunton, wife of Mr H. Staunton a
non-executive director of the Company, has today purchased 50,000 ordinary
shares of 2.5p each in the Company at a price of 95.25p per share.

Following this transaction, Mr. Staunton's beneficial shareholding in the
Company, including that of his wife, stands at 54,668.
