NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Legal & General Group Plc ('Group') is pleased to announce that Dame Clara Furse will be appointed an independent Non-Executive Director of the Group on 1 June 2009, subject to approval from the Financial Services Authority.  

Dame Clara Furse has been Chief Executive of London Stock Exchange Group since January 2001 and will step down from this position on 20 May 2009, remaining on the Board as a Director until mid-July. She is a member of the Shanghai International Financial Advisory Council and currently also a Director of Euroclear SA/NV and LCH. Clearnet Group.
