The Board of Legal & General Group Plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Lizabeth Zlatkus as an independent Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 December 2013.

Lizabeth spent a large part of her career with The Hartford Financial Services Group ("Hartford"), one of America's largest insurance and investment companies.  Lizabeth joined Hartford in 1983 and held a range of senior leadership positions including her roles as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer of the firm.  She also served as Co-President of Hartford Life Insurance Companies.  Prior to joining Hartford, Lizabeth was a senior accountant with KPMG. Lizabeth will join the Nominations Committee and the Group Risk Committee.

"I am very pleased Lizabeth has agreed to join the Board. She brings a wealth of experience from her time in the US insurance industry running both domestic and international businesses. She will be a valuable addition to the Board as the Company pursues it internationalisation strategy and I look forward to working with her." 

No other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority in relation to Lizabeth's appointment as a Director of the Company.
