The Board of Legal & General Group Plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Meddings as independent non-executive director of the Company. His appointment will take effect from 1 December 2014.

Richard has over 30 years of banking and financial services experience, most recently having spent 12 years on the Board of Standard Chartered and eight years as Finance Director. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Richard was Group Financial Controller at Barclays and was also Chief Operating Officer for the Wealth Management, Premium Retail and Life Assurance businesses. He has also served on the Board of Woolwich as Group Finance Director and as a non-executive director at 3i where he was the Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Audit Committee. Richard is currently a non-executive director on the Board of HM Treasury. Richard will join the Nominations Committee, Remuneration Committee and Risk Committee.

No other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority in relation to Richard's appointments as a Director of the Company.
