Directorate Changes

Legal & General Group Plc. (the "Company" or "Legal & General") is pleased to announce that Julia Wilson will succeed Rudy Markham as Senior Independent Director of the Company following the conclusion of the AGM on 26 May 2016. This follows Rudy advising the Board that he intends to step down as Senior Independent Director at the next AGM.  Rudy will remain as a non-executive director of the Company until the AGM in May 2017, providing important continuity for the Board as the Nominations Committee completes the process for the identification and appointment of a successor to John Stewart, Chairman of Legal & General.

Julia is Group Finance Director of 3i Group Plc. and joined the Board of Legal & General as non-executive director in November 2011. She became Chair of the Audit Committee in May 2013.  The Nominations Committee has commenced a process for the appointment of an additional non-executive director who will assume the Chair of the Audit Committee. Julia will remain as Chair of the Audit Committee until this appointment is made.

The Company also announces that Olaf Swantee will be retiring from the Board following the conclusion of the AGM on 26 May 2016.

John Stewart, Chairman of Legal & General, said:
