On 23 November 1999 Mr. R. J. Margetts, Chairman of Legal & General Group Plc
('Group'), purchased 60 shares of 2.5p per share in Group at a price of 177p
per share.  Also on the 23 November 1999, Mrs. J. S. Margetts, the wife of
R.J. Margetts, purchased 77 shares of 2.5p per share in Group at a price of
177p per share.

These purchases were all made by Natwest Investments, who manage PEPs on
behalf of Mr. R. J. and Mrs. J. S. Margetts, as a result of reinvestment of
dividends.
