Anthony Hobson, Executive Director of Legal & General Group Plc ('Group'), has
today exercised 180,000 options at 50.8p over ordinary shares of 2.5p each in
Group, all of which were granted under the Legal & General Executive Share
Option Scheme (1985).  Mr. Hobson then transferred 120,000 shares to his wife,
Mrs. Ingrid Hobson.

Mr. Hobson sold 45,000 shares and Mrs. Hobson sold 75,000 shares at a price of
153p.  The sales were undertaken primarily to meet tax liabilities.
