In accordance with the provisions of Section 198 of the Companies Act 1985,
Legal & General Group Plc ('the Group') has been advised today by M&G Investment
Management Limited (a subsidiary of Prudential plc) that, as at 13 July 2004,
Prudential plc had a notifiable interest in 197,287,015 ordinary shares of 2.5p
of the Group, which represented 3.03% of the issued share capital.
