NatWest Group announces that, as at 3.00pm on 11 October 1999, acceptances had
been received in respect of 72,237,226 Legal & General ordinary shares,
representing 1.41 % of Legal & General's ordinary issued share capital. The
offer for Legal & General has not been extended and has accordingly expired.
