Non -Executive Director Elizabeth Wall resigns from the Board of Legal &
General Group PLC

Legal & General Group Plc today announces that due to the increasing pressure
of her overseas professional commitments, Elizabeth Wall, a non-executive
director, has resigned and will be leaving the Board with effect from 30
September 2001.

Elizabeth Wall joined Legal & General as a non-executive director on 1 October
1998 and serves on both the Audit and the Remuneration Committees.
