Legal & General extends relationship with National Australia Group
Legal & General Group Plc (Legal & General) today announces that it has extended
its distribution relationship with National Australia Group.
In addition to the continuing sole supplier for Life and Critical Illness
products (used by 500 mortgage advisers and financial planners) Legal & General
has now been appointed to the new multi-tied product panel for individual and
corporate protection business. This panel has been established under the new
depolarisation rules and will be used by National Australia Group's 50 senior
financial advisers. These advisers operate under the Clydesdale and Yorkshire
Bank brands throughout Great Britain, including Clydesdale Bank's current
expansion into the South-East of England.
This arrangement builds on the continued growing success for protection products
where cross sell rates of life insurance to mortgages has improved from 16% to
around 40% over the past 18 months.
Kate Avery, Legal & General's Group Director (Retail Distribution) said, 'We
have a strong and growing sole supplier relationship with National Australia
Group, one which has exceeded expectations over the past 18 months. Our
appointment as a leading product provider to both their protection and corporate
protection panels is very good news for Legal & General.'
Lynne Peacock, Chief Executive, National Australia Group UK, said, 'Our sole
supplier relationship with Legal & General has exceeded our expectations, with
both their products and their service support proving attractive to our
customers. I am pleased that Legal & General is going to play a key role in our
new multi-tied arrangements as well as continue as our partners in the larger,
sole supplier segment of our business.'
