Directorate Change: Toby Strauss to join Legal & General Group Board

The Board of Legal & General Group Plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Toby Strauss as independent non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 January 2017.

Toby brings further extensive insurance experience to the Board following an executive career in UK financial services which included Group Director of Insurance and Chief Executive of Scottish Widows at Lloyds Banking Group, and prior to that Chief Executive of the UK Life business of Aviva. Toby currently serves as a trustee of Macmillan Cancer Support. Toby will join the Nominations, Audit and Risk Committees.

The Company also announces that from 1 October 2016 Lesley Knox will assume the chairmanship of the Group's Remuneration Committee. Lesley joined the Board on 1 June and became a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees on joining. Lesley has extensive experience having held the position of Remuneration Committee Chair at each of Centrica plc and SABMiller plc for over four years.

As previously announced, the Company confirms that Philip Broadley will assume the chairmanship of the Audit Committee from Julia Wilson, the Senior Independent Director, from 1 October 2016.

No other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority in relation to Toby's appointment as a director of the Company.
