Legal & General Group Plc announces that on 22 July 2008 it purchased for cancellation 1,141,778  Ordinary shares of 2.5p each through UBS.  The highest price paid was 99.3p per share and the lowest price paid was 97.9p per share.  The purchase was made in accordance with the irrevocable instruction given to UBS prior to, and announced by Legal & General Group Plc, on 30 June 2008.
