Legal & General Group Plc announces that on 2 July 2008 it purchased for cancellation 1,500,000 Ordinary shares of 2.5p each through UBS.  The highest price paid was 100p per share and the lowest price paid was 96p per share.  The purchase was made in accordance with the irrevocable instruction given to UBS prior to, and announced by Legal & General Group Plc, on 30 June 2008.
