Liontrust recruits Michael Mabbutt as Head of Global Credit
Liontrust Asset Management Plc ("Liontrust"), the independent fund management group, is pleased to announce that Michael Mabbutt is to join Liontrust in January 2013 as Head of a newly formed Global Credit division. Following Michael's appointment, Liontrust is to launch a Dublin-based Global Strategic Bond fund in the New Year, subject to appropriate regulatory approvals.
Michael has a long and successful track record of managing global credit funds. He is currently a consulting partner at Thames River Capital LLP and was previously Head of the Global Credit Division at Thames River and the lead Fund Manager of the Thames River Hillside Apex Fund (a Cayman Islands hedge fund) and the Thames River High Income Fund (a Dublin UCITS fund).

Background on Michael Mabbutt
Michael began his career with Norwich Union in Cape Town, South Africa in 1986, before moving to Baring Asset Management, London in 1992 to be Head of Emerging Market Debt and then onto LGT Asset Management. In 1998, he joined Thames River Capital as a founding member. In August 1998, he launched one of Thames River's first hedge funds, the Thames River Hillside Apex Fund. In June 2000, he launched a Dublin based UCITS fund, the Thames River High Income Fund. Michael voluntarily retired from fund management at the end of 2007, becoming a consulting partner in the Global Credit Division assisting the Sales Division and running his own firm offering consulting services to the financial services industry. Michael graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1985 with a degree in Statistics. He also holds certificates in Finance, Investment and Actuarial Techniques from the Faculty of Actuaries in Edinburgh.
