    Secondary Placing by HSBC Investment Bank PLC on behalf of the Selling
                                 Shareholders



Notification is given that the Liontrust Asset Management Employee Trust,
('the ESOP') purchased 39,394 shares at a price of 330 pence in the secondary
placing of shares in Liontrust on 1 March 2001.


The Directors of the Company are deemed to be interested in the shares held by
the ESOP.
