Liontrust Asset Management PLC ('the Company') has been informed that
Liontrust Trustees Limited, on behalf of the Company's Employee Share
Ownership Plan ('the ESOP'), acquired on 27 July 2001 1,404 ordinary shares in
the Company at a price of 352.5p per share ('the purchase').

Andrew Yates, a director of the Company, is a participant of the ESOP and will
benefit from the purchase. The purchase increases his interest in the share
capital of the Company by 108 ordinary shares, taking his total holding to
479,502 ordinary shares, representing approximately 1.46 per cent. of the
ordinary issued share capital of the Company.
